Colorado Panoramas

This panorama was taken atop California Pass. [Note: the two pink people are both Abby. =)]

The view from Engineer Pass.  What an awesome sight to behold!

We stayed at Red Cloud, a christian camp located in the heart of the San Juan mountains.

One of the nights during sunset we could see the sun reflecting of the rain in the distance.  It was quite spectacular!

If you look very closely at the bottom right side of this panorama, you'll see the lodge at the camp we were staying at.  We took this from the side of one of the neighboring mountains.

A truly awesome view from O-Point, looking out into Ouray, Colorado, located somewhere back in those mountains.
Abby and I had such a wonderful time in Colorado, enjoying God's beautiful creation, relaxing, serving the Lord in different projects at the camp, and going on intriguing adventures.

I hope to post some more photos, as well as a more detailed description of our trip, very soon!  Stay tuned.

Note: all photos are the property of the Kautt family.

Glorious Colorado!

We have had so much fun playing rounds and rounds and rounds of Mexican Train!
The beautiful view at the Head Waters of the Rio Grande River.

Aspens surround an old cabin at Capitol City, Colorado.
It's amazing the color variety in just one kind of tree: Aspens.
Yes, we made it all the way to the top of California Pass!  The view was literally breathtaking.

On the top of the world: O-Point.
You get yet another awesome view on top of Engineer Pass.

More photographs to come later!

Family Trip - Part 5: Visit to the Pink House

This post will finish up our long story about our recent family trip.

From our cousins house in S. Eastern Ohio, we traveled across Indiana, Illinois and into Missouri until we came to St. Louis.  There we stopped off to spend Monday night (July 26) at the dorm of St. Louis Christian College.

The girl's dorm at St. Louis Christian College.

We were all so tired after being on the road for so long.

We weren't able to stop off at the Arch, but we were  able to view it from the highway.

We left SLCC around 10am or 10:30am, and traveled across the state of Misery, uh, I mean, Missouri.  =)  And we got into Joplin, to the Pink House, just in time for supper.  The people of the Pink House were very generous to let us eat a bite of supper with them, and spend the night at their house.  :)  Supper was very good: delicious chili, with cheese and sour cream, and fresh tomatoes and carrots.

The Pink House

After supper, we went outside and played around, and talked.  Then we played some of the infamous games, such as, "I saw a bear," and, "green magic."  (If you've ever been at their house, you'll probably know what I'm talking about.)  We stayed up 'late' playing another of their favorite games called, "confusion".

We were visiting outside in their side yard, while the guys were...

...jumping on the trampoline.

More talking.

Abbie C. and Abby K. on the swing.

The twins: Angela (with the camera) and Amber.

We were very entertained by their dog, Annie.

Friends: Abbie, Abby and Hannah.

The next morning they fed us all breakfast, which was very delicious, I might add.  Then we had our Bible time together, and visited a while longer, before we had to head out back to our home-sweet-home.

Hannah is currently learning to play the fiddle.

Luke (left) is playing, while Jaden watches.

Daniel plays "the bones".

Ben, the youngest of all the C.'s.

Johanna and Abbie C. pick tomatoes from their giant tomato plants.

Their tomatoes were large and DELICIOUS!  There's nothing like a homegrown tomato. =)

The C.'s backyard garden plot.

One of their many beautiful Zinnias.

A gorgeous sunflower in their garden.

We left the C.'s around 11am, and headed toward our home.  We finally got back in around 5:30pm, tired and relieved to be back home again, after being on the road for 13 days!  But, we are very thankful we were able to take this trip as a family, and for the Lord allowing us this opportunity.

Too Short

The day after we returned from our Tennessee trip, Jaden and I (Julia) were alone.  He sighed and said, "That trip was way too short."

I asked which part he thought should have been longer.

"All of it," was his wistful reply.

Family Trip - Part 3: Creation Museum

DANGER:  This is a really long post!

We took so many pictures inside the Creation Museum, and out in the gardens, that it's hard to choose which ones to post up here.  Several of them weren't the best quality, so that helps in the picking process.  But I'll put the good ones up, and hope you enjoy them!

We're getting close!!

And we're finally there!!  Yeah!

The front of the Creation Museum.  There was a crowd of people who were going to get a group tour.

This is what you will see when you walk in the front door.  To the left is a 'rock' wall that reaches all the way to the ceiling.  And, if you look close, you'll notice that there are 4 or 5 different rock "layers".

This is one of the animatronic (spelling??) children in the area where you start your tour.

And here is the famous animatronic dinosaur, which looms above your head as you begin your tour.

The main part of the tour starts here, in the Grand Canyon hallway.

The fossil dig site.  These manikins have an amazingly real-life appearance.  There was some real talent that went into this exhibit, and really into ALL of the museum.  It's profoundly high-tech.  The pictures do no justice.

Jaden (bottom, center) in front of one of the dinosaurs.

Joel at the bottom of the Grand Canyon!

The Old Testament was represented in these three historical Bible characters: Isaiah, Moses and David.

Martin Luther nailing the 95 Theses on the church door.  Ken Ham and AIG are calling Christians to do the same in our day.

This 'ghetto alley-way', as I call it, was very interesting.  Again, a lot of talent went into making this.

This is the sad state of our Nation and world today.

The Millions of Years wrecking-ball at the base of the church.

Don't we just look intrigued? :)

Caleb and Joel in the Garden of Eden.

Yes, humans lived with dinosaurs!

The guys with one of the many dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden.

Adam and Eve.

"The world's not safe anymore."  Notice the 8 or 9 different locks on the door.

The post-fall animatronic dinosaur, hovering over his dead prey.

Adam and Eve, post-fall.

Noah and one of his sons preparing the ark.

This is one of my favorite exhibits in the whole museum.  Again, so much talent went into the design and building of this exhibit.  Amazing.

One of the many model arks throughout the museum.

Jaden got to ride on the Triceratops!

The gardens are absolutely gorgeous!  So many different plants and flowers.

The arbor from across the lake.

The many flowers along the trail.

You will see this beautiful waterfall as you begin your journey down the Nature Trail.

This is one of my favorites in the gardens!  Try to go across without hands, it's quite hard!

A beautiful spot to stop and rest in the cool shade.

Apparently we only got a few photos from the Petting Zoo.  This one is of a Zedonk (I think?).  They had sheep, goats, a cow, a camel, a couple of lamas and some other animals.

Check back soon for pictures from the rest of our trip!
