The Day I Said Goodbye

Johny Kautt's temporary grave marker
Jacob "Johny" Kautt
The mound was fresh with new turned dirt
The flowers not even wilted yet.
His family gathered round his body hid,
Eyes raised heavenward in prayer.
A tear begins to steal down my cheek
A single tear drips down.
And then we weep, silently at first.
It is too hard to bid adieu to the one we love,
To say “good-bye”, or walk on.
And so we sob aloud, unhindered,
The feelings flow from our torn hearts
Rent by this loss so fresh.
But now it is time to walk away,
To move on in life without you.
The day I said good-bye to you,
Was certainly not the last day
I cried for you.

So beautiful Abby .... I well know that feeling. I wish I didn't know it so well. My own dear grandpa died back in 2003 and I still miss him so much ....

I am praying for you Kautt family!! I was so saddened to hear of your loss .... and can very much understand how the first holidays are so hard .....

We grieve and we rejoice. :) We will one day see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!!
With love,

Thank you for the sweet remarks Jean Marie. And for the prayers, too. :)

Amen to all you said! God bless you.
