Verse of the Day - The Beginning of Wisdom

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy One is understanding. for by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you will bear it alone." - Proverbs 9:10-12

The world is convinced that wisdom comes from getting a high-school degree, a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and finally a doctorate. Simply, the world believes that wisdom comes just from learning more and more things. However, Solomon instructs us that wisdom begins with learning to fear God. No matter how much learning a person has, no matter if they have more degrees than a thermometer, all that learning will be a waste of their time and money, and will ultimately seem futile to them, if they do not first learn the fear of the Lord.

Parents should begin teaching the fear of the Lord to their children early in life by instructing them in His Word. By helping their children observe the natural world and all its wonders, mysteries, and challenges, the vastness of the universe, and how none of it could have happened by chance, but was lovingly crafted by our Almighty Maker, also helps to teach the fear of the Lord.
