Stop SOPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sir/Madame,

I am contacting you today concerning H.R. 3261 S.O.P.A which allows the federal government the power to shut down the internet.  I find this to be an encroachment on the freedom of the press, and we the people’s ability to challenge the traditional forms of media, by doing our own research.

In my estimation, S.O.P.A  is Orwellian and another way for the government to fear monger, and intimidate average Americans into the believing that these kinds of laws are helpful for the future of our nation.

I would strongly urge you to VOTE AGAINST S.O.P.A (H.R. 3261) when it comes to the floor for debate later this month.

Please take a stand for the future of America’s freedom!
Sincerely,

I would strongly urge you my fellow readers to contact your representatives and senators and urge them to vote AGAINST S.O.P.A (H.R. 3261) when it comes to the floor for debate on the 24th.  You can find out more information here.

D- Day

Today is the 67th anniversary of the D-Day landings on Normandy beach in France.
"June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end on June 6, the Allies gained a foot- hold in Normandy. The D-Day cost was high -more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded — but more than 100,000 Soldiers began the march across Europe..."

Although I don’t personally know anyone who fought on those rugged beaches, I benefit from the heroics of those brave men who fearlessly stormed up those rock cliffs in order to repulse a vicious foe – Hitler.
Today I say thank you to those who fought at Normandy, thank you for doing something that seemed impossible, thank you for putting all thought of comfort or home behind you and squaring your shoulders and taking those beaches like the brave soldiers you were!  Thank you for your service, and for your example.  God bless you and may there be many more men in our day who follow in your heroic footsteps.

The Un-Constitutional Census

I am an unusual person, and thus I enjoy reading the Wall Street Journal (online) on an occasional basis. In more than one instance I have been (pleasantly) surprised by their straightforward, concise and truthful reporting of the facts.

I ran across this article about the up-coming 2010 census and how it will invade the privacy of Americans with its pointed questions and means of "figuring out" just who we are. Unfortunately, the regular media has neglected this issue for more interesting items of news.

The authors argue that since 1980 at least, the census has not truly answered the question it was initially set up to answer: citizenship. The census is only supposed to number citizens, not non-citizens for representation purposes.

States such as Texas, Florida, California, Ohio and New York would see an increase of Representatives from their state due to the excessive number of "non-citizens" that "need representation." And yet, those non-citizens don't abide by all of the laws of this land! Do you see a double standard here?

I would encourage you to read the article and come up with your own conclusion, but maybe it will make you re-think this whole census issue before the member of the "head counters" comes around next year.

Cap & Trade: The Hidden Tax

The time to take action is NOW! Congress is set to vote on this bill Friday/tomorrow (6-26-2009).

The House of Representatives is slated to vote on the Cap and Trade bill this Friday (6-26-2009) according to the Washington Post.

The House Rules Committee unveiled the latest version of the bill, which weighs in at 1,201 pages. It features new items such as $7.5 billion in "green bonds" for a new federal financing agency called the Clean Energy Deployment Administration, extra emission allowances for politically powerful rural electric cooperatives, greater flexibility for states that want to use free allowances for mass transit, and tweaks benefiting a range of companies, including algae-based biofuel producers and major petroleum refiners. (emphasis added)

This piece of legislation seems to be a top priority of the Obama administration - but will it help or hurt our flailing economy? How much would this hidden tax cost the average American household?

The New York Times and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) have helpful information regarding the cost of such a bill.

Campaign for Liberty provides a break down of the facts:
You see, energy companies just pass the costs of these draconian regulations through to the consumer in the form of huge price increases.

As a result, you will pay higher gas prices, higher electric prices, and higher costs for goods.
Barack Obama has estimated the costs of this legislation to American taxpayers to be over 650 BILLION dollars over the next eight years, and that figure is no doubt just a fraction of the real cost.

But even that modest estimate amounts to hundreds of dollars a year in increased living expenses for every family -- and will more likely cost thousands a year.

And according to the Heritage Foundation, between 1.2 and 2.3 million jobs could be lost over the next ten-years due to the bill's stifling regulations.

This current economic crisis is no time for Congress to consider both raising prices on hard-working Americans AND costing them jobs.

That's why we must act now to send a message to Congress to reject this disastrous Cap-and-Tax Scheme....

Supporters of the legislation are of course trying to downplay the cost of this scheme to the American people.

But if the bill does not directly and massively increase energy costs to consumers, how would it possibly achieve its stated aims?

It is only through these massive cost increases -- mandated and enforced by the federal government -- that the dubious goal of reducing carbon emissions could possibly be reached....
(emphasis added)

The Partnership for America's Energy Security has provided some useful stats on the cost each state would absorb.

So what should we do? Call your congressperson and express your dismay at this bill. Let them know that it will cost them in the next election should this pass! Please join me in this fight to save our country from those who would turn us awry.

For Liberty,
Abby

Bill Would Give Feds Control Over Family Farms

Action Alert for all of our Freedom lovers - H.R. 875
An article posted on NaturalNews.com on March 11, "Stop Federal Takeover of Food Regulation in H.R. 875," warned: H.R. 875 would essentially transfer all state control over food regulation to the Food Safety Administration (FSA), a newly established federal bureaucracy to be created within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Its implications point to the elimination of all independent, family farms as well as all organic farming operations due to overbearing federal regulations subjectively determined by FSA in favor of corporate factory farms.
The writer also hammered home another constitutional point: "While stripping states of what little Tenth Amendment powers remain, H.R. 875 would establish a central regulatory body with even more unaccountable authority than that of the FDA."

This is an important piece of legislation that could cause unmeasurable havoc to be wrecked against those who love freedom and independence from the STATE. Please take action and contact your congressman (house of represtitives) and urge them to vote NO on H.R. 875 also known as: To establish the Food Safety Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services to protect the public health by preventing food-borne illness, ensuring the safety of food, improving research on contaminants leading to food-borne illness, and improving security of food from intentional contamination, and for other purposes.

Come What May

So, last night we watched Come What May, the amazing movie about Caleb and Rachel and their struggle to make a reasonable case infront of their moot court about overturning Roe v. Wade.

I thought that the music, filming and location were all very excellent, the acting and the transitions between each scene, were a little rough. Over all though, I was really touched by the messages sent in this first feature film for Advent Film Group.

You can watch the trailer here, and if you want more info about AFG, you can log onto their site.
