Snowy days! (part one)

A few nights ago, it started sleeting/snowing. The next morning, we (Abby, Phoebe, Jaden and I), went out side. I took quite a few pictures! ;-)


Look there's the sun, it dried-up the landy-landy.....


Frozen pipes......don't worry, they don't have any thing to do with our house-supply of water!!! ;-)

Fall Cleaning Adventures~

Grandma & Phoebe discuss what stuff to throw out. We spent several Thursdays (Joel's day off) down at Grandpa & Grandma's helping them get things cleaned up & organized. The garage was our main point of "battle" and we worked hard to get things in order.

Caleb & Jaden fixed Grandma's tri-bic-ole. Now it is up and running! Grandpa took it for a spin after Caleb had finished. Works just fine now!

Last Thursday Joel, Jaden, Johanna & I went once again to Dallas to see if we could "finish up" our cleaning up work in the garage.

It was hot, around 106 degrees and we were all sweating by mid-afternoon. Grandma suggested we take a break, and head up to Sonic's for a slushy (icy-fruit drink). We had fun sitting under the canopy talking and laughing. The drinks were SO cold and SO sweet, that we had to drink them s-l-o-w-l-y. :)

I am very happy to report, that thanks to Grandma, Jason (our cousin), Joel, Jo, Phoebe, Caleb & Abby the garage is looking simply very nice! I was actually looking out the back windows and could see from the floor all the way to the ceiling! For years that garage has been so packed, that you could barely walk through at times.

Grandpa & Grandma, we were so happy to serve you in this way and we had fun in the process! We love you both!

Summer: What to do Part I

Well, for many of us, Summer has begun. School's out, and so the big questions are "What can I do this summer that will be fun, and will keep me / my kids occupied?"

Here are some different and varied activities you might consider:

• Local libraries usually have a summer reading program, this would be great for all children of reading age! Even if you decide not to participate in a reading program, you can still visit the library. Our local library has a wonderful kids section... and its air conditioned!


• Visit local museums. So many times we overlook our local museums and attractions that are nearby, and with gas prices through the roof, you will probably be surprised how many neat museums are close. Go spend an afternoon, pack a lunch and enjoy seeing something right in your own city that you may have overlooked before.


• Parks are so fun for little children. Thankfully, we live near 2. I find that the best time, and the coolest temperature wise to go is in the late afternoon or early evening (4pm onward). There will be more people, but its allot cooler once the sun's gone down.


• Picnics are great fun! Pack sandwich's and chips, or fruits and veggies. We have even had a picnic in our front yard! The neighbors may look at you, but we still had a great time! If you have a nice patio in your back yard, spread a blanket and have fun!


• Books. Reading is a favorite at the Kautt house. We love books. All of our bookshelves are bursting. I will be posting a "summer reading list" in another post, so be on the look-out for that.

Spring

Spring has sprung here in North Texas (I think). :) The sky was blue, not a cloud in sight and the sun was shining brightly.

Ah, I can't wait for the trees to bud, the flowers to bloom and the grass to start growing, even if I'll have to mow. Today I did a little gardening of my own, potting a few flowering plants that I hope will grow.

We have the windows thrown wide open all over the house and right now, I'm enjoying the cheerful sound of a cricket singing. Due to the fact that our digital camera is "in the shop" and the other digital requires a new transfer cable (one we need to get). I'll have to share some pictures of years in the past, of the beauty of Creation from Joel's perspective. I'm glad that spring has come to our area, and I hope that it's here to stay. The snow was a nice "surprise", but I love the sunny weather we receive here 90% of the year.
